Joined Fujitsu in 1987, working on system development and customer support as a systems engineer. Moved to SoftBank in 1996, where he worked in sales and new business planning. In 1999 he founded the online bookseller e-Shopping! Books (now Seven Net Shopping) and became its President and CEO; the company joined the Seven & i Holdings group in 2006. He was appointed Executive Officer and CIO of Seven & i Holdings in 2014, leading the group's omni-channel strategy, and became Director, Executive Officer and CIO in 2015. He left the company in 2016 and founded Digital Shift Wave in 2017, serving as its President and CEO. He also serves as Chairman of the Japan Omni-Channel Association, an outside director of SBI Holdings, and a visiting professor at Tokyo City University.

Born in Osaka Prefecture in 1960. He joined Daiwa Securities Co., Ltd. in 1984 and spent 38 years in investment banking. He was appointed Executive Officer of Daiwa Securities SMBC Co., Ltd. in 2009, Managing Director of Daiwa Securities Co., Ltd. in 2013, and Senior Managing Director in 2015. His roles included heading equity capital markets, where he served as lead underwriter on major startup IPOs such as Mercari and Raksul, and worked on the relisting of Japan Airlines and financings for Rakuten Group and KDDI. In 2021 he founded Major7th Inc. and became its President and CEO. He now advises companies on listing preparation and corporate value creation, and serves as an outside officer at several companies.
